Ormiston House Celebrates 150 Years!

2012 is a very special year for Ormiston House, celebrating 150 years of colonial history. The first stage of the house was completed in 1862 by Captain Louis Hope, marking the beginning of an important period of Queensland history. The first sugar cane in the state was planted in 1863, and the first commercial sugar was milled here in 1864.

To mark the occasion, we will celebrate our history at each special event during the year, culminating with a huge Gala concert at the end of September. This promises to be a very exciting occasion with world-class performers and we hope the local community and vistors from further afield will join us to celebrate this wonderful part of Queensland history.
