Thanks to the generosity and creativeness of our supporters and volunteers, we have two beautiful pieces that we are auctioning for our Mother’s Day Silent Auction!
We have one throw of many colours, covered in tassels – such intricate work! The latest bid for this item is $100.
Our second item is a crocheted throw with matching cushion, covered with roses – how gorgeous! The latest bid for this item is $50.
What better way to keep warm on these cold nights than with one of these fantastic throws!
Come along on Mother’s Day to make a bid on these gorgeous pieces, and enjoy a Devonshire Tea at the tables on the grassed area in front of the verandah, overlooking the beautiful bay. The auction runs until our closing time on Mother’s Day. All funds raised contribute to the ongoing maintenance and restoration of Historic Ormiston House.

Isn’t it amazing that Australia’s commercial sugar industry started here at Ormiston? This property is both beautiful and significant! Why not come along to our Resident Historian’s 2018 lecture and discover how Australia’s commercial sugar industry was started on the property? It’s sure to be a fascinating talk and we’d love love to see you there!
No need to worry if you missed last year’s sugar lecture by Dr Robbie Mason, as Jessica’s lecture will be discussing a different aspect of the sugar industry at Ormiston. You can even accompany Jessica to see an original sugar pan that was used on the property when the commercial sugar industry was established!
Tickets are only $15 and include a Devonshire Tea on the verandah of Historic Ormiston House, entrance into the grounds and a complimentary viewing of the House. The lecture will be held on Sunday 22 April at 10.30 am. Bookings are required for catering purposes – please email us (firstname.lastname@example.org) or call 0457 675 137!
What a spectacular day at Historic Ormiston House! Grey clouds didn’t dampen the spirits of the guests and the crafters, who all had a wonderful time!
So much hard work had gone into all the craft items, it was impossible to decide which ones to take home! Over 300 people came through the gates of Ormiston House today, making this one of our busiest days of the year so far.
In addition to the wonderful presenters from the Expo, we had a fascinating display from Redlands Spinners and Weavers, and demonstrations by our own crafty volunteer, Lois. We even had a beautiful raffle prize, designed by Helen, one of our volunteers, which was won by Maureen. We hope you enjoy your raffle prize Maureen!
We can’t wait to see what else 2018 has in store for Historic Ormiston House and our visitors!
Thank you to all the crafters who presented today! We hope to welcome you back to Historic Ormiston House again soon!

We have lots of exciting plans in for 2018 in the works! Stay tuned to hear all the news!
Last weekend we celebrated the 50th anniversary of the formation of the restoration committee at Ormiston House. In addition to the 50th anniversary of the formation of the committee, we also celebrated all those who started restoring the House before the committee was officially formed.
To mark the occasion, we invited as many former committee members as possible to a celebration held on the Ormiston House verandah. Guests enjoyed a beautiful High Tea, catered by the wonderful Steve from Zyka’s Kitchen. Guests were entertained by John Ellis and George Williamson, violinist Camille Barry, bass baritone Andrew Collis, and soprano Ashleigh Denning. What beautiful music!
Our Honorary Administrator, Duchesne Barry, and Resident Historian, Jessica Stroja, spoke about the importance of the day and acknowledged the many years of work that have allowed Ormiston House to be opened to the public.
Each committee member was also presented with a souvenir book that chronicled the restoration of the House. This limited edition booklet includes beautiful photographs from the House’s history, right up to the present day. Our Resident Historian compiled this beautiful record of the restoration to date, and we would like to thank our local Harvey Norman Store (Cleveland) who very generously sponsored the printing of the souvenir booklet.
This marks only the beginning of the Ormiston House journey! We look forward to many more years of wonderful history, friendships and community, all thanks to our wonderful, dedicated volunteers!
From Sunday 18 June, every guest who comes through the gate on a Sunday at Historic Ormiston House will be given a loyalty card. Show your loyalty card each time you come to Ormiston House, and every third time you visit us, your entry will be free!
We can’t wait to start giving out loyalty cards tomorrow morning! This is just one way we can say ‘thank you’ for supporting Ormiston House! If you have any queries, please feel free to ask any of our volunteers, call 0457 675 137 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
