Over 70 ladies attended our first Edwardian Tea Party on 31st August and the feedback received has been tremendous. Many of the guests entered into the spirit of the occasion and dressed up in beautiful hats and stylish outfits.
The picture of ladies on the wide verandah enjoying tea served in delicate china accompanied by superbly presented cakes and savouries was reminiscent of the elegance of bygone days. The tables were decorated with lace tablecloths and fresh flowers from the house’s magnificent gardens.
It was a fabulously sunny day and the backdrop of the sparkling waters of Moreton Bay added to the atmosphere. Young local musicians, painist Jessica Stoja and violinist Sarah Elliot, provided wonderful musical entertainment.
The Best Hat Competition winner was Jill Bettwieser, whose green and black hat decorated with large pink blooms won the day.
The event proved to be extremely popular and it was fully booked. At the request of those guests who did attend, there will be more of these special afternoons in the future. If you missed out this time, watch out for the next one – but be quick to reserve your place!
